Bernardo Silva To Leave Manchester City After 9 Years

Portuguese midfielder Bernardo Silva will end his Manchester City stay at the end of the season after nine years at the English Premier League club.

The former Monaco midfielder revealed his summer exit in a heartfelt message to fans on his Instagram account, and the club also confirmed the exit on its website.

Silva joined Man City from Monaco in 2017 and has been an integral part of the team, forming a key part of the midfield that won a treble in 2014.

In his message to fans, Silva who married wife, Ines, and had his daughter, Carlota, while at the club revealed his family’s appreciation to the fans for being a part of his family. He disclosed that he has become one of them as a Man City supporter for life, and appealed for future support for the team.

“In a few months it’s time to say goodbye to the city where not only we won so much as a football club, but also where I started my marriage and my family. From the bottom of my heart, Ines and Carlota, thank you!

“To the fans, your unconditional support throughout the years is something that I will never forget. My main goal as a player was to always play with passion so you guys could feel proud and well represented on the pitch. I hope you felt that every single game. I arrived as a Man City player, I leave as one more of you, a Man City supporter for life.

“Keep supporting this young team and I’m pretty sure they will bring you a lot of new fantastic memories in the future.”

The 31-year-old also appreciated manager Pep Guardiola and his teammates, and enjoined the players to win on all fronts the team is fighting for a trophy this season, including the English Premier League and English FA Cup.

“To the club, Pep, the staff and all my teammates these 9 years, thank you for all the memories and for letting me be a part of this journey for so long.
“The atmosphere we created every day in the training ground made me feel at home and a part of a big family. Let’s enjoy together these last weeks and fight for what this season still brings us.”

Bernardo Silva has won 19 major trophies in his time at the club, including six Premier League titles, and he has contributed 76 goals and 77 assists in 451 appearances for Manchester City.
