Tinubu to embark on three-nation trip
President Bola Tinubu will depart Abuja on Saturday, May 2, for official visits to France, Kenya and Rwanda.
The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed this in a statement on Friday.
According to the statement, Tinubu’s first stop will be France before proceeding to Nairobi, Kenya, where he will participate in the Africa-France Summit scheduled to begin next week.
The summit, co-chaired by Emmanuel Macron and William Ruto, will focus on key issues including energy transition, green industrialisation, digital transformation, climate action, and reforms to the global financing architecture.
Tinubu’s participation in the summit, billed for May 11 to 12, is expected to reinforce Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening strategic partnerships with African countries and France.
With the theme “Africa Forward: Africa-France Partnerships for Innovation and Growth,” the forum will bring together African leaders and their French counterparts to deliberate on economic transformation, infrastructure development, youth empowerment, and peace-building initiatives.
After the Kenya engagement, the president will travel to Kigali, Rwanda, to attend the Africa CEO Forum scheduled for May 14 to 15.
The forum, themed “Scale or Fail,” is expected to convene over 2,000 business leaders, investors, and policymakers to discuss strategies for accelerating Africa’s economic growth through regional integration and cross-border investment.
The event is held in partnership with the International Finance Corporation (IFC).
At both summits, Tinubu is expected to present his administration’s reform agenda aimed at positioning Nigeria as a prime destination for investment, while also holding high-level meetings with global and African business leaders.
The president will be accompanied by some ministers and senior aides and is expected to return to Nigeria after the Rwanda engagement.
