Fintiri Speaks As Adamawa Senator Pulls Out Of 2027 Contest, Endorses Him

Lawmaker representing Adamawa North Senatorial District at the 10th National Assembly, Rev Amos Yohanna, has halted his reelection plans, purchasing the nomination and expression of interest forms of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Governor Ahmadu Fintiri.

Describing the gesture as a deliberate sacrifice made in the overall interest of the zone, Yohanna said,  ‎“As a student of Fintiri’s politics, I believe this is the right time to allow experience, excellence and an outstanding track record to take Adamawa North to greater heights. My decision is borne out of love for him and our people.”

Although Fintiri has a legislative background, it is at the Adamawa State House of Assembly where he rose to become Speaker in 2014.‎

Meanwhile, Fintiri has formally accepted to join the Adamawa North Senatorial race.

Speaking at an occasion organized by APC leaders from the five local government areas of the zone including Michika, Maiha, Madagali Mubi North and Mubi South, Fintiri said he had accepted the mandate of the people to represent them at the National Assembly, signaling a major political shift ahead of the next election cycle.

Fintiri expressed gratitude and appreciation for the show of love by the people of his zone, pledging to do more for the development of his people and zone if given the mandate.

‎“I thank you immensely for this tremendous gesture. Over 10,000 people called on me to come out, and as a grassroots politician, though I did not initially seek this position, I have heard your call and I have answered,” Fintiri declared to thunderous applause.

‎He pledged to leverage his extensive political goodwill, legislative experience and strategic national connections to attract meaningful development projects, improved federal presence and expanded opportunities for Adamawa North.

‎Fintiri also used the occasion to call for unity within the party, emphasizing peaceful primaries and warning against political violence.
‎
‎“As leader of the party, I will never condone irresponsible politicking. We will conduct peaceful primaries, and anyone who engages in thuggery will face tough consequences,” he warned.

With this declaration, the political landscape in Adamawa North is rapidly taking shape, as attention now turns to how other contenders will respond.

Some political pundits in the state opined that Fintiri’s leadership style earned him the trust and confidence of the people, urging him not to let them down if eventually get the ticket of the ruling party and wins the election.(daily trust)
