Bandits Kill Three, Abduct Several Others In Fresh Attacks On Southern Kaduna Communities
Residents of communities in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State have been plunged into mourning following fresh attacks by armed bandits that left at least three people dead and several others abducted.
The attacks, which occurred between Saturday night and Sunday, targeted Kurmin Gwaza and Sabon Gari Gantan villages in Southern Kaduna.
According to local sources, the gunmen invaded the communities and opened fire on unsuspecting residents, triggering panic and confusion.
In Kurmin Gwaza, two residents were reportedly killed, while more than seven others were abducted by the attackers.
Several victims also sustained gunshot injuries and are currently receiving treatment at nearby medical facilities.
A similar attack was recorded in Sabon Gari Gantan, where one person was killed.
Several others sustained injuries during the assault, with some victims reportedly in critical condition and receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.
Residents described the attacks as sudden and brutal, saying the gunmen operated for some time without any immediate resistance.
The incidents have further heightened fear and anxiety in the affected communities, with many residents calling for increased security deployment in the area.
As of the time of filing this report, some of the injured victims remained hospitalised, while efforts were ongoing to determine the exact number and identities of those abducted.
Community leaders and local authorities were also said to be gathering more information about the attacks.
Meanwhile, some residents accused both the state and local governments of downplaying or suppressing reports of recurring violence in Southern Kaduna, further deepening concerns over transparency and the response to insecurity in the region.
Residents have continued to express alarm over the persistent attacks, urging the government and security agencies to take decisive and sustained measures to protect lives and property.(SaharaReporters)
