BREAKING: Many feared trapped as three-storey building collapses in Lagos
A three-storey building collapsed on Thursday in the Alakija area of Lagos state, leaving an unspecified number of people trapped under the debris.
The incident occurred at about 11:40 a.m., according to eyewitness accounts.
Residents and bystanders rushed to the scene shortly after the collapse, with concerns mounting over the fate of those believed to be trapped beneath the rubble.
Witnesses said the building suddenly gave way, causing panic in the neighbourhood as people scrambled to safety.
As of the time this report was filed, emergency responders and rescue operators had yet to arrive at the scene, while efforts by residents to assist victims were ongoing.
The exact number of occupants in the building at the time of the collapse could not be immediately confirmed.
