2027: Makinde, Fayemi, Oyinlola Meet Obasanjo
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State alongside former governors of Ekiti and Osun states, Kayode Fayemi and Olagunsoye Oyinlola, on Sunday, met with former President Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The closed-door meeting was held at Obasanjo’s Penthouse residence within the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) in Abeokuta.
In a post on his Facebook page, Governor Makinde said the meeting focused on key national issues ahead of the 2027 general election.
“Earlier today (Sunday), we visited Baba, His Excellency Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, in Abeokuta. Our discussions centred on important national issues in view of the upcoming general election. We appreciate Baba for his wise counsel at this crucial time in our nation’s history,” Makinde wrote.
Makinde is the Presidential Candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) for the 2027 election.
Oyinlola was a major stakeholder of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) under which Obasanjo served two terms as President, while Fayemi, a major chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), who seem to have fallen out with leaders of the party.
Fayemi has at different times made comments considered critical of the government of President Bola Tinubu and the ruling APC.
