2027: Hamzat pledges people-centred development

The Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat has pledged to advance development in the state with greater focus on healthcare, infrastructure, housing, and education, if elected governor.

Dr. Hamzat is the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 elections in Lagos State.

He made the pledge on Monday during a Fresh FM Radio programme monitored by the  News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

He said that the next phase of governance in the state would prioritise sectors that directly impacted the lives of residents, with emphasis on practical solutions to improve  quality of life.

He said: “There is plenty to do, and knowledge is about experience.

“We are going to try our best in doing what will better the lives of Lagosians.”

The Deputy Governor said that his understanding of Lagos evolved through years of direct involvement in governance, pledging that his administration would build on that experience to formulate result-driven policies.

He added: “My years in public service as Commissioner for Science and Technology, Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure and, at present, the Deputy Governor have provided me with first-hand knowledge of the state’s challenges.”

Hamzat said that such experience positioned him to be able to effectively tackle issues affecting Lagos residents and drive sustainable development across critical sectors.

He added that his administration would prioritise investments in healthcare to strengthen the system and improve quality of medical services available to the people.

On ongoing interventions, he cited construction of hospitals and doctors’ quarters at the General Hospital, Ojo as part of efforts to enhance healthcare delivery.

He said: “We are building hospitals and doctors’ quarters that will enhance the quality of medical services.”

The APC candidate also reiterated the importance of infrastructure development, saying that improved transport systems, housing, and social services would be his key areas of focus.

He emphasised that governance must translate into tangible benefits for residents, adding that policies should be tailored toward inclusive growth and improved living standards.

Hamzat assured Lagos residents that he would deliver impactful governance anchored on experience, continuity and deep understanding of the state’s needs, if elected.
