APC mobilisers caution party members against mentioning Tinubu’s name during campaigns in North
All Progressives Congress (APC) mobilisers in the northern part of the country have cautioned party members against mentioning President Bola Tinubu’s name during campaigns for the forthcoming general elections.
“All we want you to say is ‘’from top to bottom is APC and don’t dare mention Tinubu’s name otherwise whatever happens, you are on your own,” one of the mobilisers said in a video seen by Peoples Gazette on Saturday.
The development comes as the APC kick-started its 2027 campaign rallies in Kaduna ahead of the general elections.
Recall that Mr Tinubu, while inaugurating the ruling party’s presidential campaign council, said he would not be able to attend all the rallies due to the demands of his office.
The president, however, noted that he would engage Nigerians directly.
“I will make time to speak directly with Nigerians even as you lead the campaign to states and local government areas, so you will excuse me from going everywhere with you,” the president stated.
Meanwhile, ahead of the elections, the Emir of Katsina, Abdulmumini Usman, accused politicians of abandoning ordinary citizens after elections, warning that politics had become a pursuit of personal interests rather than public service.
“Every four years you come to my palace with a cap in hand, asking for prayers, asking for support. After the election, you disappear to Abuja, to Lagos. You don’t come back until the next election.” the emir stated in Hausa. “Is the palace voting centre or toilet that you visit only when pressed?”
