JUST IN: Okorocha wins as court sacks Uzodimma as Imo West APC senatorial candidate
The Federal High Court in Abuja has nullified Governor Hope Uzodimma’s emergence as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Imo West Senatorial District election scheduled for January 16, 2027.
In a judgment delivered on Thursday, JusticeObiora Egwuatu held that the evidence beforethe court showed that Uzodimma was not thevalid winner of the APC senatorial primaryconducted on May 18 and monitored by theIndependent National Electoral Commission(INEC).
The court ruled that former Imo Stategovernor, Senator Rochas Okorocha, securedthe highest number of votes in the primaryand was therefore entitled to the party’snomination.
Consequently, Justice Egwuatu ordered INECto recognise Okorocha and publish his nameas the APC’s authentic candidate for the ImoWest senatorial election.
The court also barred Uzodimma frompresenting himself as the party’s candidatefor the poll.
