Insecurity: We’re Doing Our Best — Army Chief, Shaibu Reassures Nigerians
Chief of Army Staff, Major-General Waidi Shaibu, has assured Nigerians that the Army under his leadership is doing everything within its power to address the country’s security challenges.
Shaibu gave the assurance on Wednesday during an operational visit to the Headquarters of One Division, Nigerian Army, in Kaduna.
He reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening national security, noting that his responsibility extends to both the troops on the frontlines and the citizens they protect.
According to him, One Division remains a critical formation under Operation Fansan Yamma, a key security operation in the region.
“First and foremost, I want to appreciate the troops for their commitment and sacrifice, and for what they are doing to stem the tide of insecurity across the country,” he said.
He described his tour as “a medium operational visit to various formations and units”.
Addressing Nigerians, the Army Chief acknowledged the growing expectations for improved security.
“The armed forces — the Army — are doing their very best to tackle the security challenges across our country,” he stated.
He added that the military is making progress, expressing cautious optimism: “With time, of course, we’ll start having very good results.”
Shaibu urged officers and soldiers to continue to uphold professionalism and dedication in carrying out their duties.
“My charge to them is that they should continue doing what they are doing professionally, remain committed to the mission we have given them, and ensure mission success,” he said.
He emphasised that the troops’ discipline and dedication remain central to achieving the military’s objectives.
Earlier, the Chief of Army Staff held a meeting with senior officers of the Division before commissioning a newly built Soldiers’ Cafeteria.
