‘All hope is not lost’ — Benjamin Kalu says political solution underway to free Nnamdi Kanu
Benjamin Kalu, deputy speaker of the house of representatives, says a political solution is underway to secure for the release of his Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
Kalu’s comments came after a federal high court in Abuja sentenced the IPOB leader to life imprisonment on Thursday for terrorism.
In a statement, the deputy speaker expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu would listen to the pleas of well-meaning Igbo leaders on the matter.
Kalu urged the people of the south-east, and all Nigerians, to remain calm, assuring them that all hope is not lost.
“It is now time to explore political solutions that had been hindered because the matter was before the court,” he said.
“But now that the court has finished, it is time to intensify requests for the president’s intervention, and we are sure that the president is not averse to it.”
“We are going to get it. All hope is not lost. Our people should remain calm.” (The Cable)
