Enugu Air plane’s nose gear fails during landing
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) says an aircraft operated by Enugu Air experienced a nose-landing gear fault while arriving at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, from Lagos.
In a statement signed by Henry Agbebire, director of public affairs and consumer protection, FAAN said the incident occurred at about 19:10 hrs on Thursday as the aircraft, with registration number SN-BZN, landed on runway eight and became immobile shortly afterward.
According to the authority, emergency response teams were immediately mobilised to the scene to ensure the safety of passengers and secure the aerodrome.
“FAAN’s airport emergency resources, including fire tenders and medical standby, were deployed as standard procedure.
“All passengers and crew were safely disembarked and evacuated to the terminal, using the Apron buses. Evacuation was completed without injury and concluded at 19:48 hrs,”
The incident comes barely four months after Festus Keyamo, minister of aviation and aerospace development, inaugurated the state-owned Enugu Air and announced that regional flight operations would begin soon.
