Why I Dumped PDP for APC – Rivers Speaker Amaewhule Speaks Out
The Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martin Amaewhule, has announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing internal divisions within his former party.
Amaewhule made the declaration on Friday during plenary, alongside 15 other lawmakers who also left the PDP.
He expressed his commitment to completing the formalities of his new party membership in a prompt manner.
“Distinguished colleagues, I am pleased to inform you that your Speaker, Rt. Hon. Martin Chike Amaewhule, has officially decided to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and has communicated this decision to my ward chairman,” he said.
“APC is now my party. I will ensure that my membership card is issued without delay. As of today, I am proud to be a member of the All Progressives Congress and to join forces with Mr. President.
“President Bola Tinubu is doing so much for Nigeria, addressing key security issues and extending support to Rivers State.
“His administration is ensuring that the people of Rivers are included in national governance. I am therefore delighted to be part of the APC, supporting the President from within the party.
“However, the primary reason for leaving the PDP remains the persistent divisions within the party,” Amaewhule added.
