Aston Villa came from behind twice to beat West Ham United 3-2 at the London Stadium on Sunday, extending their winning run to nine matches in all competitions.

West Ham stunned Villa almost immediately when Mateus Fernandes scored after just 29 seconds, the fastest Premier League goal of the season. Villa drew level in the ninth minute when Konstantinos Mavropanos accidentally headed John McGinn’s cross into his own net.

The home side regained the lead in the 24th minute as Jarrod Bowen converted Freddie Potts’ volley, sending West Ham into halftime 2-1 ahead.

In the second half, Morgan Rogers scored twice to turn the game around for Villa. Five minutes after the break, he netted the equaliser following a low cross from Youri Tielemans. With 11 minutes left, Rogers struck again, firing a superb shot into the top corner to give Villa their first lead of the match.

Despite West Ham pushing for another equaliser, Bowen had a goal disallowed for offside, and Villa held on for the win. The victory moves Villa to third place in the Premier League, just three points behind leaders Arsenal, while West Ham remain in the relegation zone.

Villa manager Unai Emery praised his team’s resilience, pointing to Rogers’ decisive performance. For West Ham, defensive mistakes proved costly once more, with the team conceding more than one goal at home for the seventh time this season.

Next up, Villa face Manchester United, Chelsea, and Arsenal, while West Ham travel to Manchester City as they try to climb out of the relegation zone.
