Mother Arrested For ‘Selling’ Baby In Delta
Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested a woman identified as Rita Ughale, over alleged selling of her two-month-old baby for N1.5 million in the state.
The Command’s spokesperson, Edafe Bright, said the incident happened at Kokori community I in Ethiope East Local Government Area of the state.
He said the mother of the baby, Rita, reported at the Ekpan Police Division that her two-month-old baby was snatched from her during a robbery incident while transiting in a tricycle.
He noted that the police, during investigation, observed inconsistencies and suspicious conduct in the complainant’s narrative, prompting further interrogation.
He added that after thorough interrogation, Rita confessed that she had sold her child to one Osas Omijie, 39, and Judith Omijie, 30, for ₦1.5 million.
Bright said the suspects were arrested while the baby was successfully rescued, adding that the suspects were currently in custody for further investigation.
