APC Congress: Kano Mandates Drug Tests For Contestants
Kano State Government has directed all the contestants for the executive positions of the State Working Committee (SWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to be subjected to mandatory drug test.
The congress has been scheduled for October 16, this year.
The state commissioner for Information, Malam Muhammad Garba, who disclosed this on Monday, said all contestants are to visit the state office of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for drug tests.
Garba, who said the decision was part of the government’s policy to rid Kano of illicit substances, warned that no contestant would be screened without undergoing the mandatory drug test.
He said similar tests were carried out for contestants into local government election as well as political appointees including members of the state executive council before offering them portfolio.
