Boko Haram invades Adamawa’s Garkida town
Boko Haram insurgents invaded Garkida, a town in Adamawa State, on Friday night and caused destruction that could not be immediately determined.
Multiple sources said the insurgents stormed the town and got residents scampering in many directions as they shot sporadically, apparently hurting many residents as they tried to flee.
DSP Suleiman Nguroje, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), told our correspondent that the police command had sent men and officials to Garkida but were yet to brief him on happenings in that place.
Garkida is a northern Adamawa town, in Gombi local government area.
“I hear and read things from sources I cannot rely on, just give me sometime to ascertain the situation from my men who are about reaching there now,” Nguroje said in a phone conversation about 10.45 pm Friday.
