President Bola Tinubu officially administered the oath of office to Senator George Akume, appointing him as the new Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the event witnessed the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including current and former Governors, in a ceremony held at the council chamber.
In attendance were Vice President Kashim Shettima, President of the Senate Ahmed Lawan, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State, Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, and Mrs Regina Akume, the spouse of the newly appointed SGF.
In a post-ceremony interview with journalists, Senator George Akume conveyed his elation regarding his recent appointment and vowed to dedicate himself wholeheartedly to the success of the administration.
