It’s a lie, we never arrested Mohbad – NDLEA

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has denied ever arresting or detaining the late singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba (a.k.a Mohbad).

The denial came against the backdrop of an alleged rumour making the round that the late artiste was among some ‘Malians’ arrested in 2022 and that he must have been poisoned in detention by the agency.

The agency’s Director of Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Babafemi, posted Saturday on the NDLEA’s official X handle that the whole story was twisted by purveyors of fake news.

“This is authentic account of the arrest and detention of some Malian artistes in Feb 2022, an incident that has now been twisted by purveyors of fake news to say Mohbad was poisoned in ⁦@ndlea_nigeria⁩ custody even when he was never arrested or …detained by the agency.

“I hope they’ll be bold enough to defend their claims when the hand of the law catches them,” Babafemi posted.

The hip-hop act passed away on Tuesday 12 September 2023 in a mysterious circumstance.
