Passengers stranded as Lagos-bound train derails in a Forest in Kwara
Hundreds of passengers were left stranded after a train heading from Kano to Lagos derailed in a forest in Ilorin, Kwara state capital.
The incident was said to have left most of the passengers in pains and undue stress as majority of them had to trek a very long distance into the town in order to get access to vehicles to continue their journey down to Lagos.
No causality was however reported in the incident and it is uncertain yet on what led to the derailing of the train on transit.
An appeal has already been forwarded to the Kwara state government to send relief materials to the stranded passengers and find a means to rescue them out of the forest.
Facebook user Anthony Odoh shared the sad news online.
Below is what he wrote;
Our train heading to Kano from Lagos derailed today in a forest after Ilorin. A lot of people especially women and children are stranded. We managed to walk for a long distance to have access to vehicles. Kwara State Government should send relief materials to the women and children and find means of bringing them out of the forest.
However at the time of giving this report, majority of the passengers have found their way out of the forest to avoid any further impending danger.
