Sharon Ademefun, daughter of Billionaire, Adedeji Adeleke and elder sister to singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has addressed the question of why she works for a living despite her father’s status.
The mother of three in an Instagram video affirmed that her father’s wealth was never hers to take, but a gift that got her the best education and the life she has.
Sharon further added that she adopted the mentality of fending for her family following experience with rich British kids who insisted on making their own wealth aside from their fathers.
She said, “I get a lot of people come up to me and say, Sharon, why do you even work?
“So, I went to school; I have a B.Sc, I have a Master’s degree and I have a brain, but I shouldn’t do anything because my father is wealthy.
“I went to school with British people primarily and I will go to school with high royal official’s kids, millionaires and billionaires and one thing was always common amongst all of them, they will never say they were rich, they’ll be like, oh I’m not rich, my father’s rich.
“Honestly, I really adopted that mindset and for me I’m so happy that I did and I’m so grateful because my dad spoils me to bits and I’m grateful but I also understand that these are gifts and I need to use these gifts well and manage my money well.
“Uh… but when people come up to me I’ve learnt to just get a thick skin and understand that they don’t understand that just because your parents have money does not mean that you have money and a lot of rich kids spent their whole life living a billionaire’s lifestyle but don’t know how to manage it.
“I am starting to understand you’ve got to manage your money well and if I want my kids to enjoy the life that I’m enjoying; I have to make the same sacrifices that my dad made, so this is my mindset with money and I hope you guys have a healthy mindset with money too.”
