Tinubu ministers gripped by fear after cabinet sackings
President Bola Tinubu’s ministers appear gripped by fear following the recent sacking of some of their colleagues.
Recall that the President relieved the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr Wale Edun, and the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, of their portfolios on Tuesday.
Before the hammer fell on the two ministers, complaints had emerged in some quarters that certain cabinet members add no value to the administration. Some were even described as “square pegs in round holes”.
It was also alleged that some political appointees lack the pedigree to translate President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda into reality across their ministries, departments, and agencies.
A minister, who visited the Presidential Villa on Wednesday, jokingly told journalists, “There is an earthquake going on; everyone is in panic mode now.”
The president was commended on Tuesday for the minor cabinet reshuffle but was also reminded that some ministers either need to be relieved of their positions or reassigned to ministries where they can be more useful to the government and society.
A presidency source said, “The President means well for this country, but some appointees appear bereft of ideas on how to translate policies into reality.”
One ministry key to economic development is power, yet Nigerians have lamented that the power situation has worsened.
