Lagos 2027: Waste managers back Hamzat
The Association of Waste Managers of Nigeria has endorsed Lagos State Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, for the state’s governorship seat ahead of the 2027 election.
Members of the association announced their support for Hamzat on Thursday during a meeting held at Mayfair Hall in Alausa, Lagos.
Speaking at the event, the National President of the association, Olugbenga Adebola, said the endorsement aligned with the position of their Grand Patron, Bola Tinubu, whom he noted had consistently backed experienced and capable leadership for Lagos State.
Adebola described Hamzat as a seasoned technocrat and administrator with a proven track record in governance and public service.
According to him, the deputy governor has served in key roles across successive administrations in the state, including as Commissioner for Science and Technology and later Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure during the tenures of Tinubu and Babatunde Fashola.
He noted that Hamzat played critical roles in advancing infrastructure and technological development in Lagos during those periods.
Adebola added that Hamzat, who currently serves under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has continued to contribute significantly to policy formulation and implementation.
“He has shown capacity, competence, and tenacity in every office he has occupied. His contributions to project development and governance have been instrumental to the successes recorded under different administrations,” Adebola said.
He further described Hamzat as a leader with strong technical expertise, humility, and responsiveness to the needs of residents.
The association urged its members and the wider public to support Hamzat’s governorship ambition, expressing confidence that his experience, integrity, and vision position him as a strong contender for the state’s top job.
