Tinubu’s minister suspends aide for linking him to 2027 guber election in Niger state
The Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, has suspended an aide over a write-up that linked him to permutations for the 2027 Niger state governorship election.
In a statement by Rabiu Ibrahim, Special Assistant (Media) to the minister, said the article titled ‘Malagi 2027’ was authored by Sa’idu Enagi without the minister’s approval.
“The write-up and all its contexts are hereby vehemently disclaimed,” the statement said.
According to the statement, the minister is fully focused on his responsibilities at the federal ministry and has no interest in political distractions.
“Please disregard the write-up as the Honourable Minister neither directed nor approved the publication,” Ibrahim said.
The statement said Idris has ordered an immediate investigation into the matter, adding that the aide who authored the article has been issued a letter of suspension with immediate effect.
“The Honourable Minister has directed an immediate investigation, and the aide has been issued a letter of suspension with immediate effect,” the statement said.
The minister also dismissed speculations of political tension with Mohammed Umaru Bago, governor of Niger state.
“It is noteworthy that the Honourable Minister and his home state governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, enjoy a positive, mutual relationship for the greater good of Niger state,” the statement said.
The statement added that linking the minister to 2027 election permutations was inimical to those objectives.
