DRAMA IN COURTROOM! Ex-Oyo NURTW Boss, Auxiliary, Collapses Mid-Trial As Proceedings Grind To A Halt
Proceedings at the Oyo State High Court sitting at Ring Road, Ibadan, were thrown into chaos on Tuesday when a former Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in the state, Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi, popularly known as Auxiliary, suddenly collapsed during court proceedings.
Auxiliary, who was brought in by security operatives for the continuation of his trial, reportedly slumped shortly after the session began, triggering panic among lawyers, court officials, and spectators. The presiding judge immediately suspended proceedings as frantic efforts were made to revive him inside the courtroom.
Eyewitnesses said the embattled transport union leader appeared frail and unwell before the incident, heightening concerns over his health. He was quickly attended to and subsequently taken out of the courtroom for urgent medical attention. The cause of the collapse was not immediately known.
In the aftermath of the incident, the court adjourned the case to a later date, insisting that the defendant must be medically certified fit before further proceedings could continue.
Auxiliary, a once-powerful and controversial figure in Oyo State’s transport sector and political scene, is standing trial over a string of serious allegations, including violent crimes and illegal possession of firearms. His prosecution has continued to draw intense public interest due to his past influence and notoriety.
As of the time of filing this report, no official statement had been issued by the prosecution or the Oyo State Government. However, the dramatic courtroom episode is expected to further delay the high-profile trial, adding another twist to a case already surrounded by controversy.
