Fayemi’s Successor: APC Stakeholders Endorse SWAGA Boss, Adeyeye
A group under the All Progressives Congress (APC), with the acronym ‘Ekiti APC Stakeholders Forum’, has picked and anointed its candidate in preparation for the next year governorship election in the State.
The Forum has anointed former Minister of Works, Senator Dayo Adeyeye for the forthcoming 2022 governorship post in the state. The group through its Secretary, Hon. Femi Adeleye, said the body decided to back said the exemplary leadership quality and competence of the National Chairman of the Southwest Agenda 2023(SWAGA) for Ahmed Bola Tinubu Presidential ambition fetched the anointed candidate the chance.
It added that Adeyeye possessed superlative administrative acumen and was politically savvy to rule a sophisticated state like Ekiti, which they said also endears him to be qualified as a reliable successor to Governor Kayode Fayemi. Adeleye was a member of the Ekiti State House of Assembly between 2007 and 2011, representing Ido/Osi Constituency 1, in Ekiti North Senatorial District.
The ex-parliamentarian, said the forum took the decision in Ado Ekiti on Friday after three days of all-inclusive consultations and rational search for a good successor, which was conveyed to newsmen, in a statement signed by Adeleye, on Saturday.
The group enjoined all APC members to rally support for Adeyeye and ensure he emerges during the primary election coming up in 2022 added it would not be in the interest of the party to present a weak candidate.
An unconfirmed report has it that the Secretary to the State Government, Biodun Oyebanji, a member of the Senate, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, a House of Representatives member, Femi Bamisile and a serving Commissioner for Public Utilities, Bamidele Faparusi, are interested in the plum seat.
Explaining the reasons for Adeyeye’s endorsement, Adeleye said the group perceived the former Minister as the best man for the job on account of his past experiences as a Minister, Senator, party spokesman and member of the defunct National Democratic Coalition(NADECO).
