“It was a private visit” – Governor Fubara keeps mum after meeting with President Tinubu in Aso Rock
Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has refused to open up on the agenda of his private meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa on Thursday.
Fubara, who arrived at the State House alone around 5:35 pm, was without the usual entourage of aides and loyalists that accompanied him on his previous visit just weeks ago. The governor was also without his estranged godfather, Minister Nyesom Wike.
Despite the media’s persistent attempts to get details of the meeting, Fubara remained tight-lipped. “It was a private visit,” he simply told reporters.
While the official agenda of the meeting remains shrouded in secrecy, there are indications it might be tied to the ongoing political feud between Fubara and Wike over control of Rivers State’s political structure.
Recall that President Tinubu had recently intervened in the crisis, rolling out resolutions to be implemented by Fubara’s faction and Wike’s.
