“Protest organizers plan to truncate Nigeria’s democracy” – Fani-Kayode alleges
Femi Fani-Kayode, a former aviation minister and All Progressives Congress chieftain, has warned that the planned nationwide protest scheduled for August 1 could be a tactic to destabilize Nigeria and undermine its democracy.
In a statement issued to the media, Fani-Kayode accused the protest organizers of attempting to exploit the country’s economic hardships to incite chaos and provoke a violent response from security forces.
Fani-Kayode described the protest as a “premeditated attempt by faceless individuals” to destabilize the nation and incite rebellion against the government.
He cautioned that such actions could lead to widespread unrest, similar to the violence seen during the #EndSARS protests.
“The so-called #EndBadGovernance protest is nothing more than a deliberate attempt to provoke anarchy and mayhem,” Fani-Kayode stated.
He called on the organizers to abandon their plans and engage in dialogue with the federal government instead.
Fani-Kayode urged for patience and a more responsible approach to expressing grievances, warning that any action aimed at destabilizing the country would be counterproductive and dangerous.
