24 Police Mobile Force Personnel Attached To Presidential Villa Petition Tinubu Over Nine Months’ Unpaid Allowances
Twenty-four personnel of the Police Mobile Force (PMF) attached to the Press Escorts Unit at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, have appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene in the alleged non-payment of their allowances for nine consecutive months.
The personnel, who said they perform the same duties as their colleagues who receive the allowances, lamented that they had been left without the financial benefits despite continuing to discharge their official responsibilities.
In a petition addressed to President Tinubu at the Office of the President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, the aggrieved officers said they had not received their allowances for the past nine months, a situation they described as increasingly difficult for them and their families.
The personnel explained that the prolonged non-payment had placed them under serious financial pressure, particularly as they have families, children and other relatives who depend on them for their daily needs.
They also complained that they now struggle to meet basic financial obligations, including transportation costs to work and house rent, which they said they ordinarily depended on the allowances to cover.
According to the petition, the situation has become more painful because some of their colleagues performing similar duties are reportedly receiving the allowances, while the 24 affected personnel have allegedly been excluded from the payments.
“We are here to write on behalf of some 24 PMF personnel, Press Escorts Villa, Abuja. We have not received allowance for the past nine months, which some of our colleagues are collecting, and we did the same work,” the petitioners stated.
They added that the affected personnel have families and children to cater for but have been left struggling financially because of the outstanding payments.
“We have families, relatives and children to take care of, but no allowance for a period of nine months. We are suffering, paying transportation to work and paying for house rent, which we depend on the allowance to do,” they said.
The personnel further appealed to the Federal Government to urgently look into their complaint and ensure that the outstanding allowances are paid without further delay.
They stressed that the allowances were important to their welfare and ability to meet their financial responsibilities while continuing to carry out their assignments at the Presidential Villa.
“We are pleading with the government to consider our complaint and pay us our outstanding nine months’ allowance,” the petitioners said.(SaharaReporters)
