‘James Bond’ Actress Tania Mallet Dies At 77
Tania Mallet, who played Bond girl character of Tilly Masterson alongside Sean Connery in “Goldfinger,” has died at the age of 77.
The official “James Bond” Twitter account confirmed the news with a post.
“We are very sorry to hear that Tania Mallet who played Tilly Masterson in GOLDFINGER has passed away,” the tweet read. “Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this sad time.”
Mallet, who is also Helen Mirren’s cousin, returned to modeling after her “Goldfinger” appearance, with only one additional film credit to her name, an episode of the U.K. television series “The New Avengers” in 1976.
Speaking to the Bond fan site MI6 in a 2003 interview, Mallet addressed the idea that her Tilly Masterson character was the “first really strong female character to appear on screen with Bond.”
“I don’t think any of the Bond girls have ever been a push over,” she said, “so I don’t consider I did much more than follow on in the movie. I was, however, the one that got away.”
