“Sovereignty means nothing when people are dying” – Senator Marafa backs Trump’s threat
Kabiru Marafa, a former senator representing Zamfara Central, has backed Donald Trump, president of the United States, over his recent warning of possible military action in Nigeria.
Speaking on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme, Marafa said he supports Trump’s stance as it could compel the Nigerian government to act more decisively on insecurity.
“I strongly support the president of America, Donald Trump, for issuing that threat,” he said.
Marafa acknowledged concerns raised by some Nigerians who view the remarks as an affront to national sovereignty, but argued that human lives must come first.
“Most people look at it from the perspective of sovereignty and patriotism, which I subscribe to, but of what importance is sovereignty to a dead man?” he asked.
He added that the comments from Washington serve as necessary pressure for authorities in Abuja to prioritise the protection of citizens.
