‘I need space’ — Portable sacks manager, promoter
Habeeb Okikiola, the fast-rising Nigerian singer better known as Portable, says he has laid off his crew members.
In an Instagram post on Monday, the ‘Zazoo Zeh’ crooner revealed that he fired his manager, disc jockey, and show promoter.
In the video, the singer accused them of sending people who need his help away from him.
He also accused them of putting up “unruly” attitudes whenever he wants to mingle with new people.
Portable said he needed space from his crew, adding that whoever is willing to work for him would have to sign a contract.
“I gat money and I still need more people to help. Una too dey show me fake love. Why are you sending people that need help from me away?” he wrote in a mixture of pidgin and English language.
In the video, he said: “Let some other persons enjoy. Let me employ new staff; new DJ, new promoter. Let them enjoy like you have enjoyed. Don’t give them my show money oh. Including the manager. Come and sign a contract before you work with me.”
The development comes barely a few days after the singer was signed by Obi Cubana, the Nigerian business mogul, as the brand ambassador for his recently launched product.
Portable, who had hinted that the endorsement deal was worth N50 million, appreciated the socialite for the opportunity to work with him.
