I’m ready to account for my stewardship, says Kyari
Former Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd, Mele Kyari, has stated that he is ready to account for his stewardship while in office.
Responding to reports that he was detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Kyari described the claims as clear mischief and a calculated attempt by the newspaper and its sponsors to drag his name in the mud.
In a long post monitored on his verified X handle on Saturday night, Kyari absolved himself of any mischief and boasted that he served not only Nigeria but God also, with the belief that as a devoted Muslim, he would one day account for his deeds before Allah.
Kyari warned that any disinformation about his reign as NNPCL would only send negative signals to foreign investors. He revealed that he is currently enjoying a well-deserved rest after the dissolution of the management and board of the NNPCL.
”Over the past few days and in particular in the past 2 hours, I have been inundated with calls from concerned family and friends over claims by an online newspaper that I was in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
”This is clear mischief and a calculated attempt by the newspaper and its sponsors to achieve a desired outcome, which only they know,” he wrote on X.
