The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has redeployed the head of its Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Adamawa State, barely nine days to the state governorship supplementary election.
This was contained in a three-paragraph letter to the office on Thursday, directing him to report to the headquarters in Abuja on or before April 10.
Although the governorship and legislative elections have been concluded in most parts of Nigeria, In Kebbi and Adamawa, the 18 March governorship elections were declared inconclusive by INEC and supplementary elections will be held in some polling units in both states on April 15.
Hudu Yunusa, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, had cried out about the threats to his life, and his whereabouts had been unknown since the election was declared inconclusive late last month.
Ahmadu Funtiri, the state’s sitting governor and PDP candidate, led comfortably in 15 of the 21 local government areas, while his APC counterpart, Senator Aishatu Dahiru Binani, had five local governments with only Fufore local government outstanding before the election was declared inconclusive.
Meanwhile, INEC in Adamawa had responded to a social media report that the HOD ICT had been transferred to Abuja due to the inconclusive governorship election.
The commission stated that the transfer had nothing to do with the governorship election.
“The HOD is the best ICT expert the commission has for now; hence his movement to the headquarters”, an official said.
