Reps leaders visit Dangote Refinery
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, along with other lawmakers, paid a visit to the Dangote Petroleum Refinery in Lagos on Saturday.
The visit was aimed at demonstrating solidarity with the project and conducting an inquiry into allegations of conspiracy by international oil companies against the refinery.
During the visit, the lawmakers were received by Africa’s richest man and President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, and top executives of the refineries. They took a tour of the 650,000 barrels per day refinery and were briefed on the project’s progress.
The visit marks the second by federal lawmakers to the refinery in two months, and also a pivotal moment for the refinery, which is set to commence petrol supply next month.
However, the refinery is facing challenges in accessing crude oil needed for production, with allegations of conspiracy by international oil companies.
In June, Senate President Godswill Akpabio led the Senate leadership on a tour of the refinery, where he lauded the project and affirmed the Senate’s commitment to its success.
The “whole Nigeria couldn’t make refineries function in Kaduna, Port Harcourt, and Warri, but Dangote and his team have proven that it is possible to dream and achieve it in Nigeria.” During his visit, Akpabio stressed the importance of the project.
