Why Our Marriage With Kwankwaso Collapsed – NNPP Faction
Agbor Major, a factional leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), has said that the political marriage between the leadership of the party and Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso collapsed because of Kwankwaso’s alleged zeal to hijack the party.
Major stated this during an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today.
He said that the leadership of the party gave Kwankwaso and some others a chance to appear before the board of the party before they were expelled from the party.
He said, “We give them (Kwankwaso and some of his followers) an opportunity to appear before the board of the party. They failed and we expelled them. Just because he is the presidential candidate of the party does not mean that he is above the constitution of the party.
“The only person that can’t be suspended from the party by virtue of our constitution is the founder of the party. He is a life member of the board.
“We have seen things we never expected. We went into this marriage in good faith. They tried about four political parties including the PRP and Accord party but failed. The leaders of these parties are my friends. I know how the discussions started and collapsed. It was because of zeal to come and occupy what you have not sown.
“When they came to us, they found a man who is very reasonable, a man who would always give you a chance. And we gave them a chance.”
