When Nigerians remember P-Square, many feel bad because they never knew that this most entertaining duo would ever separate and dissolve their beloved and lovable band.
Their being inseparable forever was seen from the near inseparable nature of identical twins. But they finally separated due to some known and unknown reasons.
In a recent interview on HipTv, Peter Okoye had disclosed that he had picked his wife and kids over his brothers.
The defunct P-Square music group dancer and singer revealed that he had always wanted to go solo before now and wished he did it earlier.
According to him, anybody that “feels bad that he chose his wife and kids over his brothers and also wants to stop listening to his music because of it, can go ahead with the plan.”
He further stated that his wife and his kids are his family.
Recall that a few months after they went separate ways, Peter said his twin brother would insult his wife at will in public and expect a performance with him without even an apology.
There are some things that Peter did not tell Nigerians as the main reasons for their separation.
The most important reason for the dissolution of P-Square was because Peter went against the late mother’s decision against his marrying Lola Omatayo.
Peter Okoye’s mother advice was like a law to them, and they always obeyed her.
While their mother was alive, Okoye brothers – Jude, Paul and Peter – battled over the issue of Peter’s choice of fiancée, and their mother specifically said no to that marriage.
When she died without saying yes to Peter’s choice, Jude and Paul felt it was their mother’s death-bed wish and that Peter should not marry Lola.
And when Peter went ahead with his decision to marry Lola, they felt it was a sacrilege, and therefore unforgivable.
A source close to the family, also told www.e-nigeriang.com that Paul along the line also became very proud of his greater singing ability. He did not hide his disdain for Peter because of that thought.
Again P-Square manager, Jude did not help matters as he continued to goad Peter to solo stardom, always praising his ‘super-ability’.
Another source, full of regret over the inability of Peter and Paul to settle their differences and re-unite, told e-NIGERIA! that “one thing Paul and Peter do not know, is that one of them is a greater singer, the other a greater dancer, but the combination makes P-Square beautifully unique.
The source continued: “Telling a man who to marry or a woman who to marry does not always portend well for a family. But one thing I had seen in life is that men and women who always stick to their marriage choices as against mothers’ or family choices always win.
“And at the end, those against recalcitrant lovers always come back to them and reconcile.
“But now, the unifying force in the family – their mother – is dead.
“It now depends on Jude to turn himself to a unifying head of family. Only Jude alone can initiate the move to bring Rude Boy (Paul) and Mr. Peter back to P-Square.”
