A former lawmaker, Elisha Abbo has turned himself in at the Nigeria Police Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) over allegations of raping a 13-year-old secondary school student.
Abbo who represented Adamawa North at the Nigerian Senate was accused of abusing the girl at his residence in the Katampe Area of Abuja on June 29, 2025.
Speaking on the incident, the parents of the girl alleged that another former lawmaker and governorship candidate had pleaded with them to hide the scandal from the public.
According to the minor’s parents, the governorship candidate had visited their home to make the plea while Abbo has continued to send money to the girl’s father with the hope of buying his silence.
It was gathered that Abbo is currently being held at the FCID as of the time of publishing this report.
Recall that in the past, Abbo had been caught on camera abusing a vendor at a sex shop in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city.
This particular incident led to his arrest after he was booed by some shop owners in the popular Banex Plaza.
In another incident, the former lawmaker was accused by a married woman who had alleged that he was blackmailing her with a sex tape.
