Business mogul, Alhaji Aliko Dangote on Sunday promised to donate a 600-bed isolation centre to the Kano State Government. The centre is to be constructed at the 15,000 capacity Sani Abacha Stadium.

Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State announced this, during the inauguration of a 38-member fund raising committee on COVID-19.

Ganduje revealed that the richest man in Africa, Aliko Dangote, had  requested the state government to provide a facility for him to provide 600 beds and other infrastructure, as his contribution towards the efforts to contain the outbreak of coronavirus in the state.

The isolation centre would be established to complement the two centres meant for quarantine in case of any eventuality.

Also, Governor Ganduje has declared a one-day fasting today for residents to pray against the outbreak of Coronavirus in the state.

As Nigeria recorded over 90 cases of coronavirus, Kano is yet to record a single case, hence the need for the government to be up and doing to contain the outbreak of the deadly disease.

Ganduje urged the people of the state to answer his call for fasting in order to pray against the outbreak of the dreaded disease.

“I call on Kano people to observe fasting today, March 30, and 5th Sha’aban and pray hard against the outbreak of coronavirus in our dear state.

“I also called on people to intensify prayers because prayer is the best fire for this disease,” he said

Ganduje also stated that the state government has put everything in place, in terms of prevention and cure, to ensure that the disease has not ravaged the state.
