Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has said that he never pledged to make public, his preferred candidate in the 2023 presidential race
Wike said this in response to the 2015 gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress(APC) in Rivers State, Dakuku Peterside, who dared him to announce his preferred candidate.
The governor also said that the people of Rivers State already knew the candidate he was rooting for, adding that those waiting for him to make the name public will be disappointed.
“I never told anyone I would be in front of cameras to announce who we will vote for. I stated I will inform the Rivers community of the candidate they will support. I did not specify the manner of telling it. I did not state that I would hold a live broadcast to declare it.
“And Rivers residents already know. Do you not know? So ‘mumu‘ individuals who never succeed in politics expect me to announce live that we are now supporting someone?. “Very far from it.
“However, you (Rivers residents) are aware. Were we not clear? I have informed those who are unaware. We are engaged in guerilla warfare in G-5. The closer one looks, the less one sees,” he said.
