The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has attacked Amnesty International, a global human rights organization, for allegedly being behind the killings in the South East.

The  group claimed that Amnesty International’s claim was false and unsupported, and that the statement attributed to the organization was highly disappointing for a group of that stature.

“It is astonishing that a prominent worldwide organization like Amnesty International will condescend to making pronouncements without investigations,” IPOB’s spokesperson, Emma Powerful, said in a statement.

How did Amnesty International come to the conclusion that IPOB is to blame for the South East killings?

“In case Amnesty International forgets, IPOB had suspended its earlier order for Ghost Mondays before hooligans sponsored by politicians hijacked the exercise to unleash mayhem on innocent citizens under the guise of enforcing the suspended order just to implicate IPOB, and we still stand by that order and decision that Monday sit at home has been suspended,” he said.

The group claimed that anyone claiming to impose Sit-At-Home on Monday was not from IPOB, and that last week’s murder in Mbaise, Imo State, was not carried out by IPOB family members, insisting that Amnesty International must verify information before making public statements.

Amnesty International was also unaware that Anambra State Governor Willie Obiano has accused his fellow South East governors of funding the killings in his state, according to IPOB.

“How will it be IPOB that is behind the killings and the governor, with all the intelligence at his disposal, continue to throw accusing fingers at his brother governors?” he said.

Or is Amnesty International implying that the governors of the Southeast are now IPOB members and sponsors?

“What is causing Amnesty International to stray from its well-deserved reputation as a courageous rights advocate?

We understand its plight, having come under fire and pressure from Nigeria’s oppressive Fulani-controlled federal government for criticizing the regime’s excesses.

But that isn’t enough to cause a recognized organization to make unsupported claims.

“Were you not aware, Amnesty International, of the multiple attacks and killings taking place in the Awka Etiti Community?

How the Nigerian army executed a brother and sister who were returning from the mortuary where their mother’s lifeless body had been put.

They were shot dead by Nigerian security forces, and one innocent young man in Izombe Community, who stood in front of his compound, was murdered today by the Nigerian army, who also set fire to his home in Izombe village, Oguta LGA, Imo State.

“The Nigerian Army burned down more than 50 houses and property worth #500 million at Izombe Community in Oguta LGA; Amnesty International has never seen the barbarity that is now taking place in Imo State; they will come out and make unsubstantiated statements about IPOB, claiming that we are behind the killings and attacks in the South East.

“IPOB will never succumb to the Nigerian army’s threat because we know they are Fulani jihadists soldiers disguised as Nigerian army, and they are here for a mission. We know their antics.”
