I’ve Been Urging Tinubu To Contest Since Buhari’s First Term – Babachir %Post Title

Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Babachir Lawal, has been urging the presidential candidate of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to contest presidency for five years.

President Muhammadu Buhari was serving his first term in office at the time.

The former SGF made this known on during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

“I’m one of those who have been pushing for this for five to six years now. Even while he was governor, we knew that he has the capacity to rule this country and almost everybody that is Bola Tinubu’s protege has been working with us on this and quiet a number of people that have known him as his friends have been working on him all these years. It’s a combination of our efforts, fasting and prayers that has resulted in yesterday’s (Wednesday) victory,” Babachir said on Thursday.

He noted that Tinubu had groomed and helped several politicians across the country to attain their currently positions.

He added, “Tinubu is a very good man anywhere. He’s a very kind man and you need to hear some of the people he has helped out in the political lockdown. He has sponsored so many people in Taraba, Gombe, Adamawa, so many people. He has been helpful to almost every politician across the country.”

On whether or not Tinubu will win the vote of the people of Adamawa considering his main opponent, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of Peoples Democratic Party hails from Adamawa, Babachir said the ruling party has its tentacles all over the state and victory is certain.

“We are there, we are the ones in Adamawa that will deliver Bola Tinubu in the same way that we delivered Buahri while Atiku was contesting; in the same way Adamawa delivered Goodluck Jonathan while Atiku was contesting, so it’s not a new thing. We have our tentacles all over the state and Bola Tinubu will win the state,” he added. (Daily Trust)
