One Ayuba Sule, has dragged his estranged wife, Awawu Haruna, to a Kwara State family court sitting in Ilorin for getting married to another husband, Jemilu Bahause.
Sule, who is a resident of Otte town in Asa local government area of Kwara State, also charged his wife’s father, Haruna Danjuma to court, insisting that he gave out his daughter to a new suitor without informing him (Sule) and without dissolution of their marriage.
In the suit, he claimed that his father-in-law took an active part in his marriage with his daughter which was done under the Islamic law and rites.
He told the court that on August 6, 2022 his father-in-law gave out his wife to another man while the marriage contract with him was still intact.
According to Sule, “Alhaji Haruna Danjuma who is the father of my wife (Awawu) in order to conceal the illegality, relocated her daughter and the new husband, Jemilu Bahause to an unknown location and they have since been living together as husband and wife.”
The trial Magistrate, Mr Abdulraheem Bello, who presided over the matter, ordered that the newly married couple and the bride’s father be remanded in the federal correctional facility, Ilorin.
The matter was adjourned till September 26, 2022 for hearing.
