The Presidency, on Friday, directed all ministerial nominees to complete documentation on Sunday, July 30, 2023, ahead of their screening by the Senate slated for Monday, July 31.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Senator Abdullahi Gumel, revealed this in a statement, he signed on Friday announcing the start of documentation for all ministerial nominees.
The nominees were directed to visit his office at the National Assembly complex, between Friday, July 28, and Sunday, July 30 for necessary documentation ahead of Monday’s screening.
“Documentation for ministerial nominees has commenced and all nominees are expected to complete all necessary processes before the screening.
“The office will be open on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for this purpose, this is to enable all nominees to complete the process before the screening,” he said.
President Bola Tinubu, through his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, had on Thursday submitted a 28-member ministerial list which was read on the floor by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
No fewer than four former governors were nominated alongside 24 others who form part of Tinubu’s first set of nominees.
Also on the list were serving and former members of the Senate and House of Representatives.
25 per cent of the nominees are women while 75 per cent are men. The women include Betta Edu, Doris Uzoka, Hannatu Musawa, Nkiru Onyeojiocha, Stella Okotete, Nkiru Onyeojiocha, Uju Kennedy Ohaneye, and Iman Suleiman Ibrahim.
The list came 24 hours before the expiration of the 60-day constitutional deadline of July 28, 2023.
