The Saudi Arabia ministry of hajj and umrah has warned intending pilgrims against patronising fraudulent companies offering cheap services for the forthcoming 2024 pilgrimage.

In a statement on Friday, the ministry asked intending pilgrims across the world to seek accurate information from its official website.

The ministry said intending pilgrims should only obtain a visa that is issued by the Saudi Arabian authorities in coordination with hajj offices in various countries.

The ministry said it is monitoring campaigns on fake social media accounts promising cheap hajj trips.

The Saudi ministry added that the Supreme Commission for Hajj and Umrah in Iraq has arrested over 25 fraudulent companies promoting commercial tours.

“Intending pilgrims can also seek valid visas through the “Nusuk Hajj” platform for nations without such offices,” the statement reads.

“The ministry also extends its gratitude to all countries for their collective efforts in fighting this irregular phenomenon.

“The ministry reiterates its stance that visas for umrah, tourism, work, family visits, transit, and other types do not qualify the holder to perform the hajj.

“It underscores the importance of everyone’s adherence to the regulations and laws imposed by the official Hajj organising authorities.

“It strongly advises against being misled by fraudulent companies and offices claiming to offer commercial hajj campaigns and other such labels.”

The ministry commended all participating states for their collaboration in fighting misinformation, adding that members of the public should report platforms promoting cheap offers to the authorities.
