Women all over the country have been advised to engage in transport business rather than selling their bodies for money in the face of the present economic hardship in the country.

The Chairman, Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), Kwara branch, Alhaji Abdulrahman Olayinka Onikijipa, disclosed this in Ilọrin weekend.

According to him, “Transportation is not strictly for men as thought by some women but for both genders. Women should stop seeing transportation as men’s work.

“We have many women here in Kwara driving taxi cabs, tricycles to earn a living. That is a big kudos to them.

“We also have many women here as executives that are part of the decision-making process” he said.

The chairman also advised women to stop being idle but engage in legal businesses to make end meet in response to the present hardship.

He however, advised passengers to be vigilant and stop boarding any available car to their destination.

He said most transporters were not legally registered with transport unions in the state.
