The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, has vowed to enforce the total ban on the activities of commercial motorcycle operators also known as Okada riders as directed by the state government.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, last week, issued a total ban on the operations of Okada riders in six local government areas of the state: Ikeja, Surulere, Eti Isa, Lagos Island, Lagos Mainland and Apapa.

Speaking with journalists on the violent attack on policemen in Ojo by Okada riders, the police boss said the ban would be in phases.

Alabi stated that the command would no longer tolerate the violent nature of the riders who carried out unprovoked attacks on members of the public.

He said 35 suspects had been arrested over the attempt to overrun a police station at Ojo, while 195 motorcycles had been impounded.
