Arsenal forward Folarin Balogun (21) has decided to switch international allegiances and represent the United States, a major milestone for the United States Men’s National Team (USMNT). This was reported by Tom Bogert and confirmed by Fabrizio Romano and FIFA.

Balogun, who was previously eligible to play for England, took time to weigh his options before choosing to wear the red, white and blue. The talented young forward’s decision is seen as a major boost for the USMNT as they continue to strengthen their squad for upcoming international competition ahead their hosting of the 2026 World Cup.

Balogun’s decision has been confirmed, but the official announcement is expected soon. Balogun has has 19 goals in 34 games on loan at Reims from Arsenal this season in Ligue 1.

The flexibility provided by FIFA’s eligibility rules has opened doors for players like Balogun to make choices that align with their ambitions and heritage. With no competitive senior appearance for England, Balogun remained eligible to switch his allegiance to the Americans.
