Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has ordered an investigation into the Sunday attack on a bus conveying journalists on Lagos Island.

The incident occurred between Ebute-Ero, Adeniji and Iga-Iduganran during the visit of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to the palace of the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu.

Tinubu had on Sunday arrived Lagos amidst a tumultuous welcome by thousands of party leaders and supporters who thronged the presidential wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja.

He returned home for the first time after clinching the APC presidential ticket at the primaries held in Abuja.

After departing the airport, he moved to the palace to thank the king for his support and prayers.

The bus that conveyed Governor Sanwo-Olu’s press crew to the event was however attacked by hoodlums after leaving the Oba’s palace; leaving some journalists injured and the bus destroyed.

A statement issued by the Lagos State Commissioner for Information, Gbenga Omotoso, said the governor condemned the attack and had promised to foot the hospital bills of all those injured in the incident.

“We hold the media in high esteem and the government has always ensured that they have a conducive environment to perform theirduties. Nobody or group will be allowed to destroy our cordial relationship with the media. Lagos has no room for hooligans,” the statement said.
