Victor Osimhen, who was voted Man of the Match after his first career hat trick yesterday, dedicated the goals to his baby girl.

Speaking in a post-match chat on the club’s official website, Osimhen said: “I’m experiencing a magical moment and I want to enjoy it. I’m happy and I have to thank the team that helped me to reintegrate on the pitch after my injury. I congratulate the group. I have fantastic teammates and I play in a quality squad. I thank the coach for his trust and I want to continue like this together with the whole team. Every time I score, I think of my daughter. I dedicate this hat-trick to her.”

In his reaction, an elated Napoli head coach, Luciano Spalletti   showered his players with praise, as he has often done this season.

He said: “I’m very proud of this team. They deserve all the plaudits they’re getting for putting together such a long winning run. Every time we’re called upon to extend it, we redouble our efforts and succeed.

“In every match, we need to maintain our attention levels and find an extra gear. We gave away too many chances today, but I realise its fatigue setting in.

“We scored straight away and then got a second. After that, we took our foot off the gas a little and made a few mistakes, but I think it’s understandable given all the games we have.

“My players train very hard—they’re consummate professionals. They work hard and play hard, always with the same mentality. They’re able to find the right passing lanes and time their runs well. They’re always looking to play the ball. I have players who know how to step up and take the reins during the match with genius ideas. Hats off to them.”
